The role

Canada Life International Reinsurance is seeking to recruit an ambitious and talented candidate to the role of Pricing Actuary. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting development, oversight and management of our new European reinsurance transactions, with a particular focus on longevity reinsurance.

 

The role is a key part of the business development team with responsibility for structuring, pricing, underwriting and delivering new business transactions. It is an exciting role in a growing team with exposure to both traditional reinsurance and innovative structured reinsurance solutions.

Key Accountabilities

 

-    Data analysis and underwriting of new business transactions to ensure all risks are adequately understood 
-    Pricing new transactions in line with underwriting guidelines and Canadian and Solvency II reserving and capital requirement 
-    Developing existing cashflow projection models and new models for longevity reinsurance transactions
-    Communicating proposals and results to senior management.
-    Managing transaction approvals and preparation of presentations for senior executives  
-    Implementation of new reinsurance transactions, including operational support.

The Person

The successful candidate ideally should have:

 

  • Fellow of an internationally recognised actuarial body – applications from nearly qualified actuaries will be considered depending on their relevant work experience.
  • More than three years’ experience in a life insurance or life reinsurance environment
  • Actuarial modelling skills including Prophet, SQL, R, VBA experience considered an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills. An ability to effectively communicate complex concepts.
  • An ability to plan work and manage time effectively
  • Assertive, self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously where needed
