Canada Life Asset Management has over 100 colleagues and includes more than 50 experienced investment professionals, with almost 20 years' average industry experience and ten years' average tenure at Canada Life Asset Management (CLAM).
Job Summary
We are looking for a Director, Global Asset Structuring.
In this newly created role, you will report to the Managing Director, Head of Global Investment Solutions and will be the overall leader of the asset structuring efforts.
The Director, Global Asset Structuring will work closely with investment teams, business leaders, capital management, tax, ALM and financial risk organizations to create efficient asset structuring solutions that drive value across insurance business units.
What you'll Do
• Drive value creation at Lifeco through asset structuring solutions
• Coordinate with asset underwriting teams to explore structuring opportunities
• Consult with internal departments (i.e., risk, tax, capital, accounting) to validate structuring ideas
• Build and maintain relationship with banks, regulators, rating agencies, law firms and auditors
• Present structuring solutions to senior stakeholders and committees for approval
• Execute structuring mandates and oversee lifecycle events of special purpose vehicles (SPVs)
• Support downstream business processes such as asset valuation, modeling, and hedging
Who You Are
• 7+ years of work experience in asset structuring and origination, ideally within an insurance company, investment bank or rating agency
• Understanding of properties, loans (CLOs), alternative assets and asset-back securities (ABS)
• Experience of managing structuring projects involving coordination with both internal and external stakeholders
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field such as finance, economics, or a quantitative subject. Post-graduate degrees and CFA are considered strong assets
• Creative and strategic thinking with proven analytical and problem-solving skills to identify meaningful solutions
• A drive for results and ability to create a culture of accountability
• Ability to manage complexity and ambiguity
• Decisiveness coupled with high quality decision making
• Flexibility to adapt and manage within a fast-paced, dynamic business environment
• Proven ability to develop strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
• Effective change management capabilities
• Strategic vendor management experience and a strong financial discipline
• Expert communicator, with the ability to simplify technical issues
• Strength in attracting, motivating, and developing talent to build the right team to meet our strategic direction and the needs of tomorrow
