Job Summary 

 

•    To manage, develop and lead your allocated team to achieve the protection business objectives. This is primarily achieved through the attainment of allocated targets for your team, and behavioural objectives.
•    To be a point of escalation for the sales team and broader Canada Life business and to represent the distribution team within the Protection business.
•    To build senior level relationships with distribution partners, supporting your team where necessary in driving Canada Life’s strategic goals.
•    To provide leadership and cultural development for your team, aligned to the Canada Life values.

 

What You'll Do

 

•    To provide leadership and cultural development for your allocated team. Following all People Experience (PX) protocols for the effective management of the sales team, ensuring that individual’s performance (knowledge, behaviours and standards) improve in line with the Protection business strategy. To actively develop talent whilst effectively managing the performance of those not meeting required standards.
•    To measure, monitor and report on team activity, results and individual capabilities, identifying underlying reasons for any problems at the earliest opportunity and following through on agreed actions in order to successfully resolve these, in line with Company and regulatory standards.
•    Oversee and assist in the delivery of strategic arrangements, e.g. Adviser Service Arrangements, Small Employer Arrangement (SEA) tenders, etc. and support in the fostering and development of new arrangements with distributers. To also manage, monitor and review existing arrangements currently in place, supporting team members where appropriate.
•    To provide and oversee training and development plans. This will be based on MI from 1-2-1’s, call sampling and distributer feedback. Individual training needs should be linked to the requirements of the BDC or SAM panel and the wider business objective.
•    To support the Head of Sales with the representation of the protection distribution team within the Canada Life business. This could include liaising with marketing in respect of communication materials and operations in respect of service and SLA’s.
•    To work with the Head of Sales to evaluate and develop targets for team members, to communicate and implement these targets and provide clarity in respect of bonus scheme rules and any other incentives.
•    To investigate and resolve complaints and queries in line with divisional and regulatory requirements and conduct risk reporting activities as agreed with the group BUCO and ensure that all necessary records and documents are kept fully up to date at all times and available for review and audit purposes.

 

Who You Are

 

•    Excellent understanding of the protection market
•    Develops staff – Ability to develop and improve the skills of the team by coaching, mentoring and providing development opportunities.
•    Technical ability – Demonstrates commitment to develop and extend technical knowledge and skills including detailed knowledge of protection product range, including propositions, legislation and terms and conditions.
•    Sales management experience and commercial focus.  
•    Able to demonstrate the ability to build excellent business relationships: - External relationships with advisers, networks, third party partners and distributers. Internal relationships across all departments within the protection business.


Qualifications

 

•    Working towards or having attained the GR1 qualification or working towards or having attained the FPC1&2 and RO5
