Role Overview

This role will have the responsibility to provide a comprehensive, accurate and timely Actuarial valuation service for the Wealth Management business unit i.e. across a £23bn+ portfolio (£21+bn 
International and £2bn UK respectively). The role will be focused on the Canada Life UK Investment bond business and the Canada Life International offshore bond business based in the Isle of Man., This includes the valuation of policy liabilities and the calculation of regulatory capital requirements in respect of both UK and Canadian reporting regimes. The role will also cover projects and Board reporting requiring actuarial input spanning the division/entities for CLL, CLI, CLII and CLIAI.

What you will help us to achieve

• Manage and deliver actuarial liabilities and regulatory capital requirements for accounting and regulatory purposes for the CLUK investment bond business.
• Produce actuarial reports, in line with TAS, for Wealth Management division. This includes, Actuarial Function Report, Appointed Actuary Report, RSR/SFCR, Board Presentations etc.
• Review methodology and assumptions used for the calculation of actuarial liabilities and regulatory capital requirements.
• Manage, develop and motivate trainee actuaries to optimise performance.
• Keep up to date of industry developments and business processes and strategies.
• Liaise with Head of Actuarial Function (CLIAI), Appointed Actuary (CLI), and Head of Finance, to ensure valuation is properly implemented.
• Responsible for overseeing the completion of a Part VII transfer in the short term, from an actuarial process and reporting perspective.
• Challenging current Prophet valuation methodology while overseeing, testing and signing off model updates across various reporting basis.
• Overseeing and completing the annual ORSA process.

What you will need to be successful in the role

• Qualified Actuary with 2+ years post qualified experience.
• Strong technical skills including financial reporting and Solvency II knowledge/experience.
• In depth knowledge and experience of SII and CIFRS actuarial valuation rules, requirements and techniques.
• Comprehensive understanding of the Irish and UK regulatory environment.
• Strong communication skills (able to communicate technical and complex issues both verbally and in writing to senior audiences including non-actuaries).
• Strong Organisational skills and a proven track record at delivering reporting requirements under tight deadlines. 
• Able to build relationships and gain trust and respect at all levels.
• Strong leadership skills - able to manage, develop and motivate a team of technical actuarial staff.
• Demonstrates personal drive, energy, persistence and self -motivation and awareness of the part played in the wider business.
• Ability to apply actuarial techniques to business problems and to see wider implications.
• Hybrid working, must be willing to travel to the Dublin office.
