The Role

 

CLE is seeking to recruit an ambitious and talented candidate for the role of Actuarial Manager in our ALM and Capital Solutions Team. This is an exciting new role in the organisation, created as part of an expansion of our capabilities in the area of capital management, which is a key part of the organisation’s strategy.   

 

This is an opportunity which would suit a qualified actuary with a few years’ post qualification experience and a strong technical actuarial background, who is seeking an opportunity to use those skills to make a significant impact on the overall capital management agenda.

 

The ALM and Capital solutions team has a wide scope including maintaining and monitoring existing ALM framework, overseeing the Unitised With Profits fund and assessing/implementing new ALM and capital strategies. This role would provide an opportunity for the successful candidate to work on a wide variety of projects and tasks as well as collaborating closely with an array of teams across the company.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Work with the Senior Manager and wider team to fulfil the German Division expanding capital management agenda.
  • Collaborate with the Actuarial & Financial Reporting and Risk teams to quantify the impact of stresses and scenarios required as part of the capital reporting frameworks. Focus on ORSA and FCT but also on ad-hoc analysis required to inform strategic changes.
  • Provide comprehensive overview of the key insights emerging from all capital analysis to senior management
  • Use the insights to proactively contribute to the development of ALM and Capital solution that deliver on the company’s strategic objective.
  • Prepare reports for the various management committees to update on various elements of German Division capital. 
  • Develop robust techniques that facilitate best in class capital stress and projections assessment.
  • Leverage the latest technology to build a capital management platform that facilitates agile capital analysis.
  • Work collaboratively across all functions to ensure that capital management is reflected in all elements of the business.
  • Contribute as required to other areas of the team in an agile manner to ensure team priorities are delivered as efficiently as possible.

 

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

 

  • Qualified actuary with minimum 2/3 years’ experience.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory and capital framework (Solvency II and LICAT) and IFRS 17 reporting.
  • Self-starter and proven track record of problem solving.
  • Meticulous in the production, validation, presentation and communication of results.
  • Comprehensive written and verbal communication.
  • Skilled user of Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Prophet and other coding languages such as VBA and SQL code would be beneficial.
  • Experience with investment guarantees, stochastic modelling and capital reporting/projections (ORSA/FCT) would be a distinct advantage.
  • While German language skills and / or knowledge of CLE’s products & processes can be beneficial they are not a requirement.
