Role Overview


We have ambitious plans to grow balance sheet assets in the coming years which will require additional investment capabilities, governance, and reporting.


This has resulted in this newly created role, reporting directly into the Head of Asset Intensive Reinsurance.
You will be based in Dublin and support the Asset Intensive Reinsurance team to implement and manage investment strategies across the global reinsurance business. 


The role will involve significant coordination with stakeholders across Finance, Actuarial, Reinsurance Collateral Operations, as well as internal and external investment managers. 


You will have excellent stakeholder management, project management and interpersonal skills to help a dynamic and growing reinsurance team navigate the global corporate structure of its parent Great-West Lifeco. The role will help leverage the global investment platforms across the group as well as potential outsourced solutions. 
 

 

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing industry best practice for investment operations and asset reporting platform for CL Re.  
  • Leveraging the global organisation of Great West Lifeco to bring efficiencies of scale to internal shared services and external vendors.
  • Co-ordinating investment operations services provided to CL Re via service agreements with affiliates in the UK, US, and Canada. Oversee the implementation of data aggregation for CL Re, including proposals for the use of third-party vendors.
  • Working collaboratively with stakeholders from New Business Pricing, Finance, Actuarial and Investment teams to improve investment operational capabilities.
  • Supporting the Finance and Treasury teams with respect to asset intensive transaction management.  
  • Working with the Head of Asset Intensive Reinsurance to include new asset classes into CL Re’s operational and asset reporting platform up to the group level.
  • Managing relationships with custodians and help implement collateral solutions for reinsurance treaties such as account control agreements and related setups.
  • Working with the team to explore fund structures and investment vehicles to help optimise investment operations and collateral in reinsurance transactions. This may include setting up new custody and collateral arrangements in emerging reinsurance markets.
  • Assessing the investment operations requirements to support Flow Reinsurance and a governance setup that can support dynamic pricing and investment deployment.
  • Supporting the Asset Intensive team to deliver significant asset growth in the global annuity and life reinsurance markets in the next 3 to 5 years.

 

What you’ll need to be successful on the role:

The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • 10+ years’ experience within an investment accounting, reporting and operations environment ideally focused on credit investing for (re)insurance balance sheets. 
  • Experience of collateralised reinsurance, working with different custody platforms and investment managers strongly desired.
  • Experience with data aggregation and single book of record views across multiple portfolios and balance sheets
  • Assertive and self-motivated with the capacity to work autonomously, as part of a team and across teams.
  • Highly numerate with strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • A flexible and enthusiastic approach to work with a strong appetite to learn and develop.
  • Strong stakeholder and project management skills.
  • A good understanding of the priorities for implementation, risk, and performance monitoring for asset intensive reinsurance transactions.
