Role Overview

CLRe Dublin is recruiting a Head of Operations, who will report to the Head of Office.

 

The Head of Operations will manage the operational and technology environments of the CL Re Dublin office.  Both the actuarial operations team of 20 people and the IT team of 3 people will report into the Head of Operations.

 

The operations team has responsibility for the in-force management and on-boarding of a large and growing portfolio of longevity swap and structured reinsurance transactions. The team is responsible for client relationships, treaty management, transaction reporting, data management, collateral management and the administration of longevity swaps.  The IT team is responsible for the development and maintenance of all software and hardware within the CLRe Dublin office.

What you will help us to achieve

The role includes the responsibility for oversight and delivery of a transformation project to modernise and transform the systems and processes within the CL Re Dublin office.  As this project is multi-function and multi-year, an ability to liaise successfully with senior leaders within the Dublin office will be essential.

 

In this role the successful candidate will:


•    Lead, develop and motivate a team of qualified and trainee actuaries, creating an environment that allows the team to achieve its full potential, while aspiring to the highest professional standards.
•    Develop, maintain, and manage excellent internal and external client relationships.
•    Coordinate with CLRe IT, other technology SMEs within the business as well as our IT partners to ensure technology infrastructure and processes are fit for purpose.
•    Ensure compliance with Company policies and regulatory, professional, and legal requirements.
•    Oversee and co-ordinate the project to modernise the entire process suite within the CLRe Dublin office.


•    Oversee and manage the operations team, with responsibility for:
o    Reviewing client reporting and validating settlements, data updates, and collateral movements within set timeframes.
o    Managing the transaction data for the portfolio of in-force transactions.
o    Understand, validate and cleanse client data for input into the quarterly actuarial reporting and annual experience study processes. 
o    Produce clear, informative and comprehensive updates on transaction performance to support the quarterly financial and capital reporting.
o    Monitoring transaction performance and providing insights to senior management.
o    Creating and implementing processes and procedures for transaction performance monitoring.
o    Reviewing client treaties and providing feedback to the business development function.
o    Establishing transaction monitoring processes to ensure conformity to all treaty requirements. 
o    Leading client discussions on amendments or additional requirements to current in-force treaties.

What you will need to be successful in the role

The ideal candidate will have:


•    An actuarial qualification with at least five years post-qualification experience.
•    Experience in change management and transformation programmes desireable.
•    Management experience and a desire to develop and motivate a team to deliver exceptional results.
•    Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
•    Self-motivation and a capacity to work autonomously, as part of a team and across teams.
•    A demonstrated ability to build relationships. 
•    An ability to prioritise and adapt in a challenging and changing environment, to manage time effectively and to ensure timely completion of all deliverables.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and in particular an ability to effectively communicate complex concepts by adapting to the different audiences.
•    A commitment to working in a diverse and inclusive work environment.
