CLE is seeking a Junior Systems Analyst to join our System Analysts’ team within Information Services (I.S.). The overall I.S. function has over 120 people in the team. 

 

 

Role Overview

Canada Life Europe requires a Junior Systems Analyst to work on I.S. projects, initially on the Point of Sales Delivery team. This individual will work with the I.S. and Business teams based in Germany and Ireland, and the Canada Life Partners and Brokers based in Germany. 


The successful candidate will be assigned to work under the direction of the Lead Analyst. As a team member he/she will be expected to work effectively with other team members such as Systems and QA Analysts, Project Managers and Software Developers. 


This role is part of the I.S. Systems Analysis Team which is predominantly based in Dublin, Ireland. The successful candidate will be expected to work on programmes/projects across Germany and Ireland. 

 

What you will help us to achieve

The main duties and responsibilities included in this role:

 

  • Become familiar with CLEs Point of Sales Systems and propose/implement changes as required to the systems. 
  • Create and update technical specification documents for internal & external use
  • Elicit, understand and clarify the requirements of the business stakeholders 
  • Translate requirements into business and functional specifications 
  • Work collaboratively with the Lead Analyst based in Ireland
  • Work with Systems Architects/Analysts to determine potential solutions and test them for both technical and business compatibility 

 

What you will need to be successful in the role

Essential skills and experience:

 

  • 3rd level education preferably in a technical discipline, or equivalent technical experience 
  • Knowledge of XML and XSD
  • Knowledge of data modelling and data formats
  • Ability to test and troubleshoot systems software 
  • Understanding of recognised application/service delivery processes and methodology 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated with a positive and flexible attitude 
  • Excellent team player 
  • Ability to set and work to strict project deadlines

 


Desired skills and experience:

 

  • Experience working as a Technical Analyst, ideally within the insurance industry, or a large multinational environment
  • Knowledge/experience of Confluence and Jira
  • Understanding of detailed analysis techniques with the ability to translate into comprehensive documentation which can be understood by Business stakeholders and I.S. alike. 
  • Experience in electronic data exchange
  • Experience in at least one programming languages with the ability to write pseudo code
  • Experience working on eBusiness, Web Application and Web Services projects 
  • Understanding of insurance business practices and processes 

 

The Person

The successful candidate will ideally:

 

  • Be educated to technical degree level, or equivalent experience
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Have excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills 
  • Have some experience working as Technical Analyst 
  • Have experience with XML, XSD, PDF Editors, MS Office Suite
  • Be a dynamic individual who is a motivated self-starter and excellent team player
  • Have professional communication skills with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Be customer focused and result driven
