Role Overview
Employing just over 700 people across Germany and Ireland, 260 employees being based in Ireland, CLE has quickly grown to one of the largest life assurance companies in the broker market in Germany and we have even more ambitious plans to accelerate our growth and impact. Transforming our digital presence, making the best use of AI and continuing strong customer service focus are some of the levers we pull – and at the heart of it all, it will be our people that get us there.
As CLE takes on this transformation, an opportunity has arisen on our People & Culture Team in our Dublin headquarters to support the business and our Ireland-based people on this journey. We are looking to strengthen our team with an impactful, driven, knowledgeable and collaborative HR professional who will have the opportunity to contribute to the full suite of HR practices, challenge status quo and influence change, and make a real and positive impact to the people experience at CLE.
Key Accountabilities
•Provide pro-active support and contribute to the cross-country (Ireland and Germany) People & Culture team by driving strategic HR initiatives, process improvements and BAU. Collaborate with colleagues across the People & Culture Team and beyond to influence the continuous improvement of our HR services, processes and impact we make. Contribute to achieving the strategic business objectives by implementing effective HR practices in the areas of performance, reward, resource planning, hybrid work, talent management and succession amongst others
•Act as a source of expertise in providing advice and coaching to Line Managers to manage performance effectively; provide staff with development opportunities; handle individual cases, conflict or complex people issues and manage these to a successful conclusion
•Provide expert guidance to Line Managers in dealing with HR policies and practices e.g. illness scheme / terms & conditions / HR policies / flexi leave etc.
•Oversee and manage the preparation of Executive, Board and wider Group reports in various formats and have a strong handle on HR data and reporting in order to provide valuable insights, shape our services and guide business decisions
•Act as a link between the central Irish Life Group (ILG) HR Shared Services (HRSS) Teams and our managers and staff, acting as point of contact for CLE for queries and providing input into changes or new HR processes as applicable
•Proactively stay connected to the Germany-based People & Culture Team the wider ILG Group HR community, ensuring CLE is represented in shared policies, procedures, initiatives and projects as applicable
•Manage the administration, governance and oversight of the annual compensation cycle, ad hoc promotions and other employment changes as required. Act as a link to HRSS for other HR Administration tasks
•Oversee the Irish recruitment processes managed by the ILG Talent Acquisition Team by tracking progress, updates and supporting the team as required
•Ensure familiarity with the company risk management programmes, follow appropriate risk management procedures to control, monitor and report on business activities. Ensure compliance with company policies, professional, legal and regulatory requirements including the Fitness & Probity Regime.
The Person
The successful candidate will ideally have:
•Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken, is preferable
challenge the status quo, to support the business during a transition and to contribute to making CLE a great place to work for all
•Proven HR Business Partner (3+ years) or strong HR Generalist (5+ years) experience in a fast paced and ever-evolving environment is essential. While experience in the insurance / broader financial services industry is beneficial, it is not a requirement.
•Strong preference will be given to candidates who have worked in cross-country environments, including German-speaking contexts
•You will be a member of the CIPD and will keep abreast of the latest market developments in HR best practice and initiatives
•You will have a strong command and appreciation of HR data, an analytical mind and the ability to extract and present people insights using both qualitative and quantitative data
•You will have experience in working with HR systems (ideally but not exclusively with SAP / Success Factors) and the ability to pick up new technical processes, as well as deliver the desired outcomes where processes differ across jurisdictions
•Very strong interpersonal, influencing, problem solving and collaboration skills
•Strong proficiency with the MS Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and proven experience in preparing and presenting papers, data and other material to senior stakeholders
