Role Overview
Reporting to the Executive Manager P&C Pricing and Analytics, this Pricing and Underwriting role will be responsible for assisting in the pricing, development, reporting and management of the division’s worldwide P&C portfolio. This will involve direct client interaction.
The successful applicant will gain invaluable experience working with the largest P&C insurance and reinsurance companies in the World. The role will suit an applicant with a good mix of technical skills, commercial awareness and ability to manage client expectations.
Team Background
- This is an expanding team within the Reinsurance division. It writes a portfolio of property catastrophe and risk retrocession business and a growing book of structured reinsurance transactions.
- The P&C team is a key component of CLRe, generating significant levels of premium income with a strong mandate to generate earnings growth through an expansion of the structured P&C portfolio.
- The retrocession portfolio is a large P&C global portfolio with participation on some of the largest global programmes in the London, Bermudian and International markets.
What you will help us to achieve
In this role the successful candidate will:
• Work directly with the Executive Manager P&C Pricing and Analytics, Senior Underwriter P&C Retro and the wider P&C team to evaluate prospective transactions on the traditional property CAT retrocession strategy and occasionally on the expanding structured reinsurance line of business and contribute to structuring and pricing discussions
• Take ownership of pricing and analysis of individual transactions from triage to binding
• Regularly present analysis and findings to senior management
• Develop market and client relationships to generate new business opportunities for CL Re in London, Continental European and Bermudian Reinsurance markets
• Complete experience analyses of clients to assess profitability of ongoing client relationships
• Work collaboratively with Risk, Actuarial, Finance and other functions to further the goals of the P&C team
• Keep abreast of model and market developments and provide updates to the P&C Team
• Lead ongoing projects to further the efficient underwriting and monitoring of individual deals and the overall portfolio
What you will need to be successful in the role
The ideal candidate will have/be:
• At least 5 years experience working towards a qualification, preferably with some knowledge of Reinsurance and Property & Catastrophe pricing methods
• A nearly or newly qualified Actuary
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Comfortable operating within a small team
• An ability to work independently without oversight
• An ability to prioritise and adapt in a fast-paced environment
• A commitment to working in a diverse and inclusive work environment
• A willingness to travel as required
