Role Overview
Canada Life Reinsurance is seeking to recruit an energetic and talented actuary the role of Pricing Actuary. The successful candidate is expected to play a key role in supporting the growth of Canada Life Re’s International Markets’ business and will be involved in the origination, pricing and implementation of new reinsurance structures in global markets. While the role has an international market focus, we expect that most of the work will be carried out in Dublin with minimal, if any, business travel requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Data analysis and underwriting of new business transactions to ensure all risks are adequately understood
- Pricing new transactions in line with underwriting guidelines and Canadian and Solvency II reserving and capital requirements
- Communicating proposals and results to senior management
- Managing transaction approvals and preparation of presentations for senior executives
- Implementation of new reinsurance transactions, including operational support
- Market and client research to support the origination of new business
- Developing and maintaining strong client relationships
The Person
The successful candidate ideally should possess:
- Fellow of an internationally recognised actuarial body – applications from nearly qualified actuaries will be considered depending on their relevant work experience.
- More than three years’ experience in a life reinsurance environment with experience in pricing structured reinsurance transactions.
- Knowledge of key global markets reporting regimes and regulations considered an advantage
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability
- Commercial and entrepreneurial mindset who enjoys working on transactions
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
- Actuarial modelling skills including Prophet, SQL, R, VBA experience considered an advantage
- An ability to plan work and manage time effectively
- Assertive, self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously where needed
