Role Overview
The European Technology department of Canada Life Group Services provides critical services that underpin the daily operations, business growth and delivery of business strategies.
We deliver the technology and connectivity for the day-to-day running of these businesses and their interactions with partners and customers on a 24 x 7 basis. We also protect the business from disruptive events or threats.
We are looking for a candidate to join the Endpoint Security team as a Technical Specialist focused on Privilege Access Management (PAM) solutions. The Endpoint Security team report to the Head of Security Operations, providing security services to the European group of companies. The Senior Security specialist will report to the Endpoint Security Manager within Central Security Services.
This role would suit a mid-level technologist with experience in privileged access management, who can operate independently on day-to-day PAM processes and contribute to service planning.
What you will help us to achieve
This position is to support the management, integration & operational support of Privileged Access Management technologies within the Endpoint Security Team. Focus on continuous improvement and technical solutions to resolve operational issues. Specifically, you will have the following responsibilities:
• Providing daily operational administration of the Privileged Access Management environment, independently handling routine technical issues with minimal senior input.
• Monitor and respond to alerts generated by PAM solutions.
• Deliver the PAM service in line with the strategic roadmap, ensuring alignment with security and business goals.
• Assisting with configuration, deployment, and maintenance of all components of the PAM solution, ensuring they meet operational standards.
• Supporting version upgrades, patching, and regular maintenance of a complex environment.
• Managing and executing the schedule of routine change activities in coordination with senior resources.
• Participating in regular Disaster Recovery (DR) and Failover testing as part of resilience planning.
• Contributing to automation opportunities to improve efficiency within PAM operations.
• Supporting team members’ skills, acting as a technical resource for junior engineers working on PAM solutions.
• Maintaining quality documentation, including configuration guides, troubleshooting documentation, and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborating closely with senior technical resources and other departments for complex issue resolution and integration projects.
• Participating in PAM forum meetings, providing updates on operational tasks, challenges, and service improvements.
• Adhering to risk management programs and aligning with security policies to support compliance efforts.
• Support Audit and Governance requirements for Privilege Access Management.
• Participate in Critical Incident Response Team for major incidents.
What you will need to be successful in the role
The successful candidate ideally should have:
• Third level qualification in Information Security or IT, or equivalent work or education-related experience preferable.
• At least five years’ experience in an IT Security industry role, with hands-on experience in PAM or cybersecurity operations and ten plus years’ experience in the IT industry.
• Working experience with Privileged Access Management Solutions (e.g. CyberArk).
• Good troubleshooting skills and ability to independently resolve technical issues.
• Experience with Network and Endpoint Defence strategies and a strong understanding of IT infrastructure.
• Ability to collaborate with vendors and stakeholders for complex technical issues.
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g. PowerShell, Python) to support automation efforts.
• Knowledge of information security and risk control frameworks such as COBiT, ISO 27001, ISO 27002, GDPR, OWASP.
• Recognized certifications desired such as Security +, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), PAM Vendor certificates (e.g. CyberArk Trustee Certification), SAN’s certificates etc.
