Role Overview

Reporting to the Head of CTS Finance, working directly with the Canada Life Europe (CLE) Senior Leadership Team, you'll drive business decision making using financial data, analysis and reporting 

 

This role provides financial objectivity, challenge and insight into the CLE IT finances and the oversight of resources to deliver the technology change programmes. It will provide Senior Leaders with support making effective decisions that drive business performance and the achievement of the division’s financial and strategic objectives. 

 

The role at present has no direct reports, but it may be required in the future.

Team Background

The Senior Finance Partner - CLE will be part of the Central Technology Services (CTS) Finance team, providing financial partnering to the CLE (Canada Life Europe) Business.  

 

The Senior Finance Partner – CLE will provide monthly project and management reporting, cost analysis, financial business partnering, budgeting, forecasting to the CLE IT Leadership team, European Technology and Group.

More specific responsibilities will include

As Senior Finance Business Partner – CLE, this role will involve:

 

  • Supporting the Chief Information Officer (CIO) in Canada Life Europe, Senior Management and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in delivering the CLE IT overall Finance objectives.
  • Acting as the Senior Finance Business Partner for Canada Life Europe (CLE), ensuring the provision of timely and insightful reporting, results and analysis.
  • Production of the monthly management and project accounting reports for CLE IT strategic projects and operational IT costs, ensuring the provision of timely and insightful results.
  • Production of regular forecasts for CLE strategic projects and operational IT costs.
  • Production of annual budget, including 5 year plan for CLE strategic projects and operational IT costs.
  • Supporting the evaluation and preparation of business cases for strategic initiatives and wider business opportunities.

What you will need to be successful in the role

The ideal candidate will have/be:

 

  • An excellent academic record - university degree in a numerate and relevant discipline, and holder of a professional accounting qualification.
  • The ability to work in a fast-moving environment, and the interpersonal skills required to interact with all stakeholders.
  • 5+ years of Finance experience, ideally in a business partnering, FP&A or reporting role.
  • A motivated self-starter who is keen to build, drive and improve financial reporting and processes.
  • Excellent presentation, communication and MS Office skills, and the ability to demonstrate a strong track record in using key management information systems.
  • A strong commercial mindset and awareness with proven technical knowledge.
  • Have a proven track record demonstrating the ability to make sound decisions having analysed situations where issues have emerged.
  • The successful candidate will have a high level of self-motivation.
  • SAP and Oracle EPM systems knowledge particularly desirable.
