Role Overview
CL Re would like to hire a Senior Manager / Manager Structured Reinsurance to support the further expansion of its portfolio of in-force structured reinsurance and new life reinsurance transactions in Europe. Canada Life Re is a leading provider of structured reinsurance solutions with ambitious plans for further growth and this will be a key role in achieving those plans. The successful candidate will lead and support underwriting, structuring and pricing new reinsurance transactions.
What you will help us to achieve
Key responsibilities:
•To lead and support the completion of new structured life reinsurance transactions. These are highly complex and innovative transactions developed to meet a specific client requirement
•Support development and structure of new bespoke reinsurance solutions which provides risk mitigation and optimise capital for clients under Solvency II
•To underwrite, price and recommend new transactions in line with group risk appetite, pricing, tax and compliance requirements
•To manage and grow relationships with potential and existing customers to ensure CL Re’s new business targets are achieved
•To ensure consideration of local market conditions, law, regulation, capital requirements and tax throughout the underwriting and pricing process
•To support the negotiations of commercial terms of new transactions. This includes onsite negotiations with client executive management and their advisors and includes liaison with legal advisors on both sides
•To participate in onsite due diligence exercises as part of the transaction development process
•To manage transaction approvals and preparation of presentations for Senior Management, GWL Reinsurance Review and Executive Committees and the relevant Boards
What you will need to be successful in the role
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- An actuarial qualification or at least master’s level in a similar discipline with 5+ years post qualification experience
- Experience in structuring and managing reinsurance transactions
- Good understanding of Solvency II regulatory landscape for life insurance
- Strong numerical skills with a good understanding of financial metrics
- Strong technical skills with ability to create actuarial models
- Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously, as part of a team and across teams
- Excellent team player
- Excellent oral & written communication/presentation skills with the ability explain complex problems in a concise way
- An ability to plan work, manage time effectively and ensure timely completion of all deliverables
- The capacity to effectively and efficiently solve problems and make decisions
- Fluent English

Fitness & Probity
This role is a ‘controlled function’ as defined by the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 Regulations 2011. Any appointment will be conditional on the company being satisfied that the appointee meets the requirements as set out in the Fitness and Probity standards issued by the Central Bank.
