The Role
The Canada Life tax function is responsible for managing both domestic and international tax compliance across the Group (including Quarterly Tax Provisioning, Transfer Pricing, and VAT) and supporting business units on a wide range of tax matters.
The tax function also supports the global Group tax function with respect to the tax aspects of acquisitions, disposals, etc.
Reporting directly to the Senior Tax Manager, the Tax Accountant will hold the following responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting in the preparation of quarterly current and deferred tax provisions.
- Assisting in the preparation of various tax returns and tax computations for the Canada Life group, primarily corporation tax and VAT returns.
- Providing support and tax technical advice to business divisions and management on a wide range of matters.
- Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with business units/divisions.
- Assisting the Senior Tax Manager with transfer pricing documentation and compliance.
- Keeping up to date with current tax legal and regulatory requirements.

The Person
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and competencies:
- AITI qualified (or equivalent qualification).
- Minimum of 1-2 years' post qualification experience working in a corporate tax environment.
- The ability to work effectively and efficiently, both individually and as part of a team in a demanding environment whilst meeting tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
- Experience with tax transfer pricing in a MNE environment is an advantage.
- Strong end user computing skills in particular MS Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
