Team Background

•    The role sits in our European Technology division, which sits within Canada Life Group.
•     It encompasses the technology community across all European entities in the Irish Life and Canada Life Group.
•    European Technology supports the business strategy and collaboration of technology across all our European divisions. There are 13 distinct IT units within European Technology, each has its own individual set of technology platforms.
•    Reporting to, and working with the Senior Cloud Security Manager, within the Central Technology Services (CTS) function, this role will give you the opportunity to deliver the cloud security strategy and enhance the cloud security of our European Organisation.

We are at an exciting and important stage in our evolution. There is a need to bring market leading speed, agility, cost efficiency and risk mitigation to enable the delivery of strategies across the European businesses. To meet this challenge, a new strategy and enabling organisation is being created, which you’ll be part of.

What you will help us achieve

•    You will be a technical lead for the delivery of Cloud Security services to the European organisation. For you this means being part of our Cloud Product team. Our mission is to create an agile, secure and cost-effective cloud service, making sure Cloud Technology Services are cloud ready.
•    You’ll help us develop and maintain the cloud security posture of deployed cloud solutions and securing the eco systems of cloud and on-premises services.
•    It’s a highly technical role, where you’ll be an individual contributor role (i.e., no people management required). The expectation is you’ll be very hands on, technically owning day to day deliverables. And you’ll also have significant collaboration and stakeholder management/engagement across the European business segments and with Central Technology Services (CTS).

More specific responsibilities will include

•    Supporting our Senior Cloud Security Manager to drive and implement our cloud security vision.  Here, you’ll have direct input in the future roadmap for European businesses (6,000+FTE), the IT community (1,100 FTE) and its constituent elements, ensuring alignment with emerging threats and market trends.
•    You’ll also be managing, optimising, integrating & customising cloud security technologies.
•    It’s a role with real impact – one where you’ll be given the opportunity to drive improved maturity of cloud security, to remediate gaps and achieve the desired target state maturity levels.
•    You’ll also help implement Security Technology Deployments and provide a Cloud Security Technology Advisory service. (Meaning you’ll have a real voice and impact in this role).
•    We’re a highly engaged team that’s recognised for its diligence, subject matter expertise and excellence in delivery. You’ll be a role model across the teams - supporting broader leadership activities of the Central Technology Services function.

What you will need to be successful in the role

•    You’ll be an experienced Cloud Security Leader-Practitioner who has worked in large scale (Enterprise) organisations, while remained highly technical and hands on.
•    You’ll have experience deploying and managed cloud security solutions, at scale. As well as a deep understanding of cloud security technologies, risks, and emerging threats.
 For example, you’ll have;
•    Delivered highly available, scalable and secure enterprise deployments.
•    Broad knowledge of the elements of operational infrastructure needed to tailor security solutions to client specific requirements.
•    Done the deep work of producing solution designs to meet system architecture needs.
•    Managed security technologies, service management, capacity planning, risk management, product/service lifecycles, portfolio management.
•    Plenty of expertise/ skills in managing security technologies, service management, capacity planning, risk management, product/service lifecycles, portfolio management etc.
•    The experience of partnering with and managing/ influencing relationships with very senior stakeholders (i.e., manage expectations, influence business goals & achieve successful outcomes) across the divisions.
•    A role model, you’ll be comfortable technical guiding and leading junior Cloud specialists, in an individual contributor capacity.
•    You’ll have a third level qualification in Information Security or IT, or equivalent work or education-related experience preferable.
•    Given the enterprise level of our infrastructure, you’ll need to be either CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) or CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional), AZ-500 (Microsoft Azure Security Technologies) certified.
