The Roles

Irish Life are currently recruiting for Actuaries to join the Retail Pricing team and Systems Actuarial team. We are happy to consider Graduate level up to Newly Qualified. 

Key Accountabilities

These are permanent positions with a range of responsibilities within our teams, including:

 

Retail Pricing Team:

 

•    Pricing products and remuneration structures to meet Irish Life Retail’s profitability and capital efficiency targets 
•    Reviewing technical customer literature – policy terms and conditions, Customer Information Notices etc.
•    Setting up new Retail client and investing funds
•    Assessing channel requests for enhanced allocations or special deals relating to potential new business or for business retention of the back book
•    Supporting the assessment and implementation of reinsurance arrangements at tender 
•    Supporting the continuous review and improvement of the department’s processes, systems and controls 
•    Providing advice on product design and pricing to marketing and sales management
•    Disclosing all commission and charges to the customer in line with the Irish standards of actuarial practice

 

Systems Actuarial Team:

 

-    Responsibility for the accuracy of the policy data on CLOAS
-    Managing the manual policy adjustments within a financial framework
-    Overseeing the configuration of all new Products on Cloas and Execution and changes to existing products through the marketing diary process
-    Responsibility for the Actuarial Engine and ensuring that premiums, projected values, disclosure figures and target quotes for all new business, top-ups and the entire existing book of policies are calculated correctly
-    Provision of technical support to Irish Life Customer Service 

 

As an Actuary, the successful candidate will be offered a range of supports to guide them in their career, including the Trainee Actuary Study Scheme (for Trainee level) and Rotations Policy.

The Person

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and knowledge:

 

•    The ability to work well within a team and across teams.
•    Keen commercial awareness, technical abilities and problem-solving skills.
•    A strong customer service focus, with an ability to meet challenging deadlines.
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Excellent PC skills and the ability to further enhance skills here. Knowledge of MS Office, SQL, VBA, Prophet or other emerging software would be an advantage.
•    A 2.1 result (or equivalent) at degree level.
•    A desire to progress towards qualification in the actuarial exams.
