Role Overview
The Digital Product Manager will own and drive the strategy, roadmap, and delivery for a high-profile digital customer portal serving over 500,000 users within a leading life assurance and health organisation. This portal is central to the company’s digital self-service and new product sales ambitions. The successful candidate will align web and native app experiences, champion user growth and engagement, and ensure the portal remains at the forefront of digital excellence in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Strategy & Roadmap:
- Develop and execute a clear product vision and roadmap for the digital portal(s), aligning web and app features over the next 18 months
- Define and track KPIs, with a focus on monthly active users (MAU), logins, content engagement, and self-service actions.
- Prioritise features and enhancements based on user value, business impact, and technical feasibility.
- Delivery & Execution:
- Lead end-to-end delivery of digital features and improvements, ensuring timely, high-quality releases.
- Champion agile and waterfall methodologies and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
- Proactively resolve delivery blockers and support the team in overcoming technical and operational challenges.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the business, including product and marketing teams, project management, business analysis, QA, API/services, CRM, and compliance teams.
- Effectively communicate product vision, progress, and priorities to diverse audiences, including C-suite.
- Balance and manage competing priorities, ensuring alignment with group-wide digital strategies.
- User Experience & Growth:
- Champion a customer-first mindset, ensuring the portal delivers a best-in-class digital experience.
- Leverage all available data for digital touchpoints and user feedback to inform product decisions and drive continuous improvement in engagement and satisfaction.
- Identify and deliver “moments of delight” alongside core functionality.
- Governance & Compliance:
- Ensure all digital product initiatives comply with relevant regulations, including GDPR.
- Lead or support the creation and delivery of DPIAs and TIAs as required.
- Manage risks related to technical debt, scalability, and regulatory change.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and develop a high-performing product team, providing clear direction, support, and professional growth opportunities. Foster a culture of autonomy, accountability, and collaboration.
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience delivering and scaling digital products to at least 50,000 users, ideally in a regulated industry (insurance, financial services, health, etc.) Demonstrable track record of owning and executing product strategy and roadmaps for digital platforms (web and/or app).
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing at senior and cross-functional levels.
- Technical familiarity with Azure, APIs, CMS, and CRM integrations.
- Experience working with agile teams and managing delivery across multiple disciplines (PM, BA, QA, development, support).
- Hands-on experience with GDPR compliance, including DPIA and TIA processes.
- Data-driven approach to product management, with the ability to define, track, and act on key metrics.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Resilience, empathy, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
