Role Overview
• This role sits within the Irish Life Group (ILG) Office of the Chief Information Officer and reports to the ILG Head of IT Risk and Security
• This team has oversight/responsibility for first line risk management and cyber capabilities within the Irish Life Group (ILG) This includes all aspects of our risk management framework and technology resilence
• You’ll also partner closely with relevant 2nd and 3rd Line Risk teams, ensuring full line of sight across all risk Related activities
What you will help us to achieve
• This is a broad reaching and high impact role. You’ll have significant senior relationship and stakeholder management including engagement with SMT, European Technology senior executives and broader European segment.
• You’ll be hitting delivery milestones to meet obligations and responsibilities set by our parent group (Lifeco), our European IT Security Policies and standards, and our regulatory bodies
More specific responsibilities will include
Act as a Sponsor for key Technology risk related projects/programmes. You’ll help us achieve this by;
- Identifying the case for change and the cost/benefits of proceeding
- Working closely with programme/project managers to lead project delivery
- Identifying and mitigating delivery risks
- Making sure expected benefits are successfully delivered
- Ensuring these projects represent successful investments in ILG, that they achieve meaningful improvements in our risk management and residual risk positions
- Co-ordinating cross functional teams to deliver cyber risk reduction, compliance with security standards and operational improvements within defined timelines and budgets
Act as a key interface between the ILG Technology security and risk community and our broader European technology CISO teams. For you this means;
- Representing Irish Life Group in our European Frameworks/forums
- Advocating for improvements to these frameworks, particularly when improvements contribute to ILG’s risk reduction.
- Bringing technology, framework, and lessons learnt from the broader European community to the Irish Life Group
- Driving value by maximum risk reduction and our broader European Management community
Continuously improve our IT and Security risk Management approach and Culture across Irish Life Group (ILG).
- Foster a culture of security awareness across ILG, including through Tabletop cyber scenarios, training and security -by-design principals
Regulatory Compliance & Audit
- Ensure Compliance with Relevant frameworks, such as EIOPA Guidelines, Dora, ISO 27001, SOC2
- Maintain awareness of changing regulatory requirements and prepare the organisation proactively
- Serve as the firm’s senior representative in regulatory inspections, external audits and industry forums
What you will need to be successful in the role
The ideal candidate will have/be:
• You’ll be an experienced information technology leader, bringing a diverse range of technical / hands on knowledge and capabilities from your time working in large organisations preferably in financial services industry
• You’ll have experience in Project management within IT Security domains, strong stakeholder management skills, and a solid grasp of information security frameworks
• You’ll have deep knowledge of risk management frameworks and their application. This includes experience developing risk/cyber maturity, awareness, culture and working in first line or second line of defence
• You’ll be an SME – bringing your expertise in design, implementation and operation of information security controls and procedures across ILG Technology
• A Natural leader and influencer – you will demonstrate the ability to partner with and relationship manage senior business executives and technology leaders – connecting technology risk and business goals, to achieve successful outcomes
