Role Overview

We are looking for a strategic, commercially minded Head of Digital Product to set the direction and lead the delivery of our consumer digital portfolio. You will own the end-to-end digital experience across web, app and online servicing, making sure our products deliver clear customer, commercial and operational value.

You will work across the business – with technology, marketing, data, customer, proposition and distribution teams – to shape and deliver simple, effective and market-leading digital experiences. This is a senior role for an experienced digital product leader who is comfortable moving between long-term strategy and day-to-day delivery.

What you will help us to achieve

  • A clear, multi-year digital product vision and roadmap across acquisition, engagement, servicing and digital advice.
  • Customer experiences that are simple, intuitive and joined up across all digital touchpoints.
  • Measurable gains in digital sales, conversion, engagement, self-service and cost efficiency.
  • Strong digital product governance, with clear priorities and transparent decision-making.
  • A more data- and outcomes-driven culture in how we design, build and improve digital journeys.
  • A mature digital product operating model that makes best use of agile ways of working, experimentation and emerging capabilities such as personalisation and AI.

More specific responsibilities will include

Digital product strategy and vision

  • Defining and leading the strategy for our consumer-facing digital channels, aligned to business goals and customer needs.
  • Owning and updating a clear product roadmap covering acquisition, engagement, servicing and advice.
  • Using market insight, customer behaviour data, competitor activity and emerging technology to shape future digital capabilities.
  • Embedding outcome-based product management, focused on measurable business value.

Product leadership and delivery

  • Leading, coaching and developing Product Owners, Product Managers and digital specialists.
  • Putting in place strong product governance, including prioritisation and roadmap management.
  • Driving effective cross-functional collaboration with engineering, design, analytics, marketing and operations.
  • Balancing customer desirability, technical feasibility and commercial viability in product decisions.
  • Owning prioritisation of initiatives based on customer impact, strategic fit and ROI.

Customer experience and optimisation

  • Continuously improving digital customer journeys using data, experimentation and customer insight.
  • Championing best practice in customer experience, conversion optimisation, accessibility and digital engagement.
  • Leading the use of A/B testing, analytics and customer feedback to optimise performance.
  • Ensuring our digital experiences are simple, intuitive and aligned with customer expectations.

Commercial ownership and performance

  • Owning and reporting on key digital product KPIs, including:

    • Digital sales and conversion
    • Customer engagement
    • Self-service adoption
    • Cost reduction / cost deflection
    • Customer satisfaction
    • Product performance and ROI

  • Working with business stakeholders to define value cases and investment priorities.
  • Supporting business cases for major digital investments.

Stakeholder and executive engagement

  • Acting as a senior leader and trusted advisor on digital transformation initiatives.
  • Presenting product strategy, roadmap progress and performance to executive leadership.
  • Building strong relationships across marketing, technology, customer, operations and commercial teams.

Digital capability and operating model

  • Helping shape and evolve the organisation’s digital product operating model.
  • Embedding agile and product management best practices across teams.
  • Driving consistency in product governance, planning and prioritisation.
  • Supporting the development of key digital capabilities, including personalisation, AI-enabled experiences, experimentation and digital servicing.

  • Significant experience leading digital product teams in complex, consumer-focused organisations.
  • A strong track record delivering customer-facing digital products at scale.
  • Proven experience managing digital roadmaps, prioritisation and cross-functional delivery.

  • Experience working closely with engineering, UX/design, analytics and commercial teams.
  • Evidence of driving measurable customer and commercial outcomes through digital channels.
