Role Overview

 

Irish Life Group, one of Ireland’s largest financial institutions with a presence across a range of financial services markets in Ireland and Europe is recruiting a Head of Organisational Capability to support our businesses based across Ireland. 


 
We are at an exciting stage in our business as we lead out on an ambitious business strategy, we need to ensure that our people have the capability, knowledge and skills to deliver this strategy and are growing and developing in their careers.  This new role brings together key areas of responsibility that will be integral to our success in the coming years as we set ourselves up for success in the context of our business strategy and growth agenda. 

 

Reporting to the Head of Talent & Organisational Capability, this role will be critical to positioning our organisation as the employer of choice for talented and ambitious people, and to creating the right environment for everyone to grow and thrive, delivering ongoing success for our people and our businesses.


This role is a key member of the Talent & Organisational Capability Leadership Team.
 

Key Accountabilities:

 

1.    Capability Building
Building organisational capability is a key pillar of our People Strategy. This role will lead the design and delivery of initiatives under this pillar, enhancing workforce capabilities, fostering a continuous learning culture, encouraging curiosity and ownership for skills development at all levels of the organization to meet both current and future business needs. Adept at developing learning programs that directly support business objectives by addressing critical skill gaps, fostering innovation, and enabling agility to respond to market changes.

 

2.    Leverage Technology and Skills Academies: 
Leverage modern learning technologies and platforms to deliver scalable and effective development solutions. Establish and lead skills academies that offer structured learning paths, focusing on upskilling, reskilling, and specialized training to meet both current and future organizational needs. Key capabilities include AI & Data, Digital, Commerciality 

 

3.    Career Development: 
Partner across the business and work collaboratively with Leaders and Talent teams, leading the development of comprehensive skills and growth pathways for employee progression. Architect for skills pathways to enable growth and development for all employees, starting with skills taxonomies for core job families.
Develop and implement career development strategies to support both business needs and employee aspirations. Empower employees to own their career ensuring the tools, mechanisms and systems are in place to enable this. 
Partnering with talent teams to map employee skills to roles and driving greater movement internally using transferable skills

 

4.    Stakeholder Management 
Ensure that the needs of a complex set of stakeholders are met, and that transparent KPI reporting clearly demonstrates the cost effective, fully aligned and value-adding nature of the services. Outcomes such as improved performance, growth and development, and enhanced organizational capabilities.

 

5.    Team Leadership & Budget Management 
Lead, mentor and develop the team to deliver effective organisational capability interventions. Responsible for budgets and the cost-effective use of resources. 
 

Criteria For Role:

 

•    Strong strategic thinking and ability to plan & execute programs that deliver people solutions which align to strategic business outcomes 
•    Experience of taking a systematic approach to enabling sustained organisational performance 
•    Extensive leadership and people management experience.
•    Excellent communication skills and ability to engage & influence diverse leaders and stakeholders. Strong presentation and facilitation skills. 
•    Familiarity of modern learning technology and platforms
•    Proven ability to design and implement successful capability development programmes 
•    Strong programme and project management skills 
•    Strong analytical and problem solving skills
•    Ability to analyse data and metrics to drive decisions 
•    Knowledge of performance and change management practices
•    Commercially orientated, driven, and able to balance independence of thought with a passion to fully understand and respond to the needs of our Ireland-based companies
