Team Background

 

The Brokerage division sits in Advice Solutions. The role reports to the Director of Brokerage.

Brokerage is a key distribution channel accounting for approximately half of Irish Life’s total retail sales volume through circa 1,600 intermediary relationships. To support our ambition to grow in the retail intermediary market, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Proposition Development (GWL13) reporting to the Brokerage Director.

Role Overview


The key purpose of this role is to lead the Proposition Development team to deliver a first-class proposition to all Brokerage segments (PFI, Onesource, Core & Brokersource). 
Working closely with the Sales Operations & Proposition Delivery team and the Sales teams, the role holder will identify gaps and design solutions that can be deployed across the broker market. 
They will work closely and collaborate with teams across Advice Solutions to ensure that Brokerage solutions are managed and implemented, consistently meeting the changing needs of the Brokerage Team. 
In addition, as a member of the Brokerage Executive Team the role holder will actively contribute to the formation and development of Broker Strategy.

More specific responsibilities will include

 

1. Strategic Leadership & Direction: Develop, propose, gain acceptance & implement the strategic plan for the Proposition Development team. Ensure alignment with the overall business objectives. Work closely with the wider Brokerage team and Advice Solutions to develop a best-in-class proposition for all products & segments.


2. Commercial Growth & Performance: Ensure that the proposition continues to evolve for all segments of Brokerage, to support achievement of Brokerage KPI’s (Sales, Margin, Persistency etc) across all products. Use market intelligence to identify potential gaps in the Brokerage Proposition, working closely with the wider Brokerage Team to prioritise deliverables.


3. Team Management & Development: Lead, develop and manage the Proposition Development team, building talent for the present and succession planning for the future.


4. Performance Management & Accountability: Drive a high-performance culture by setting measurable goals, ensuring transparent reporting & holding teams accountable for results.


5. Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement in proposition development.


6. Organisational Change & Transformation: Lead and drive change management initiatives to support business transformation and competitive positioning in the market, continuously improving the broker experience, through the Brokerage Change programme & Broker Atlas.


7. Enhance and deliver Brokerage Digital Capabilities: Ensure that Brokerage proposition continues to provide best in class Digital Solutions across tools & websites, differentiating for segments where appropriate.


8. Project Management & Communications: Ensure business deliverables are managed tightly and communicated effectively across brokerage & to the wider market, keeping a close focus on Cost Management.


 

What you will need to be successful in the role

 

· Degree, Business Masters or other relevant qualification.

· Completed QFA Qualification

· Proven commercial acumen, with an ability to articulate business cases and logic to third parties & internally.

· Proven and demonstrable experience of delivering proposition to the broker market.

· Strategic Skill & Business Planning

· Significant experience of managing key internal relationships and have a proven track record in delivery of results.

· Significant experience of managing a team with different deliverables & priorities.

· Significant experience of managing activity and performance measures

· Significant experience of the life assurance and broker market and its workings

· Very detailed experience of how Irish Life operates as well as strong credibility with Brokerage staff

· High level of personal credibility across Advice Solutions and Irish Life Group.
