We are currently looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Investment Control Manager to work within the Investment Risk group. The Investment Risk function in ILIM has three core areas of focus:

 

 

-    Provide challenge to the business on existing and emerging risks
-    Independently monitor and analyse portfolio risk
-    Oversee governance across investment functions and processes

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Investment Risk the role will involve:

 

•    Responsibility for ensuring the proper implementation of ILIM’s investment mandates by providing second line oversight of mandate management
•    Ensuring mandate rules (including regulatory rules) are captured correctly on ILIM’s fund management systems.
•    Working closely with the Fund Managers, to review and approve mandate breach alerts generated by the fund management system, including those resulting from proposed trades.
•    Providing expertise to the business on UCITS / AIFM / SEC and other regulatory mandate rules and limits.
•    Working closely with the Head of Investment Risk to produce and develop investment risk reports for fund management, Irish Life group, boards, clients and the regulator.
 

Desired Knowledge / Experience / Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

 

•    A third level degree and/or post graduate or industry qualification in a numerical discipline such as Accounting, Quantitative Economics/Finance, Econometrics, Risk Management, Funds Regulation and Compliance etc. 
•    Relevant experience within a similar role and/or investments background 
•    Demonstrated knowledge in investment management, risk management and fund regulation
•    Proven knowledge and exposure to various asset classes including Equity, Bonds, FX and Equity Options
•    Proven ability to successfully communicate complex material in a clear and coherent fashion to both internal and external parties
•    Proven ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented collaborative environment 
•    Ability to multitask and effectively co-ordinate priorities, tasks and resources to achieve favourable outcomes on time and budget.
•    Ability to respect deadlines and to set realistic timescales for all the tasks and projects at hand.
