Role Overview

We are looking for a Commercial Solicitor to join our legal team on permanent basis.   This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of experienced commercial lawyers who are a key part of the Irish Life legal team providing support to several diverse businesses across the Irish Life Group.

Applying your education, practical experience and business knowledge, you will add value by providing key legal support on a range of commercial and regulatory matters. You will focus on a wide range of life, pensions, health and risk related commercial work, along with a variety of other issues that arise in a large organisation such as Irish Life.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Management of a busy workload across a variety of commercial contracts – outsourcing, IT, services, agency, distribution, licences and data related agreements.
  • Providing timely advice, opinions and support to our business partners to ensure compliance with relevant laws and to help our businesses to achieve their strategic priorities.
  • Advising on data protection and GDPR compliance.
  • Contributing to strategic projects that support the businesses that we support.
  • Participating and contributing to team and business partner meetings.

More specific responsibilities will include

What you will need to be successful in the role

  • Qualified in Ireland as a Solicitor and have at least 2 years PQE with a focus on commercial contracts and a strong practical knowledge of data protection. Experience in a regulated industry is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation and communication skills with a practical solution-oriented approach and the ability to use clear, plain language.
  • Experience in drafting and review of data processing agreements.
  • Ability to manage multiple legal matters and effectively prioritise a busy workload.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to independently manage own workload, with well-developed organisational and time management skills, and to handle changing and competing priorities.
  • Motivated self-starter with ability to work productively under pressure and deliver business results in a busy fast-paced environment.
  • Strong technical skills.
