Role Overview


The ILIM Performance Team has responsibility for both measuring the performance return of the investment strategies employed by Irish Life Investment Managers (ILIM) and Setanta Asset Managers (Setanta) and for confirming such strategies are performing in line with expectations. 


To meet this objective, the team is heavily dependent on the Performance Systems infrastructure and employs a Solutions Architect to ensure systems and supporting business process are properly designed and operating effectively. 
In response to an ever-expanding demand for additional services from its consumers, a vacancy has arisen in the team for a Performance Solutions Analyst, who will work alongside the Solutions Architect to ensure this demand is met.


The Performance Team use Simcorp Dimension as its Performance Measurement and Attribution system and are constantly redesigning work practices to take account of system capability.  The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to this agenda and participate in the design of and testing of new and improved solutions.
 

Key Accountabilities

•    Responsibility for the integrity of the Benchmark data on ILIM systems, ensuring daily data updates are received, processed correctly and data rejects/anomalies are addressed.
•    Ensuring that all new Funds setup to implement investment strategies are correctly configured on the Performance Systems and feeding through reporting as required.
•    Designing and maintaining Performance Team specific data classifications
•    Completing reconciliations to ensure related Performance Data is in sync across all systems
•    Completing the testing for annual system upgrades
•    Problem solving exceptions which occur in automated processes by diagnosing root-cause and carrying out remediation.
•    Designing solutions in response to business requirements, development and testing of such solutions, and successful handover / migration of solutions to the Production environment.
•    Developing and maintaining relationships with internal clients that facilitate effective collaboration on analysis and which ensures prompt sign off or approval of performance statistics.
•    Be proactive in identifying and delivering other process improvements or controls, and implementing new functionality that supports automation, risk reduction and the expansion of the function’s capabilities.
•    Work closely with and lend support to other team members for the completion of team duties.
•    Any other duties as assigned by the Team manager.
 

Desired Knowledge / Experience / Skills

The ideal candidate will have/be:


•    Degree qualification (or above) in a data driven or numerical discipline (such as Maths, Economics, Statistics, Accounting, Actuarial, Finance or Statistics, Engineering or Science). 
•    A proven problem solver, with a well-developed instinct for identifying causes of exceptions within automated processes and for developing solutions to remedy such situations. 
•    Good experience with data analysis, particularly in working with large sets of data, and in understanding how each element of our data interacts with each other and how they combine to contribute to the eventual outcome of the business process which consumes it.
•    Excellent mathematical competency and be able to verify that any specific calculated system output will be in accordance with the theoretical model for such calculations. 
•    Good ability to work collaboratively with the Solutions Architect, the Performance Team and with Investment Professionals in ILIM and Setanta, to develop the appropriate solution for business needs
•    Excellent interpersonal skills and use these to develop and maintain effective relationships.

 

Familiarity with investment markets and different investment asset classes, their specific return characteristics, and the purposes to which they are deployed in investment strategies would be considered an advantage for any applicant.
