Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled IT Software Developer to join our dynamic Technology team. As a key member of our Digital Product Delivery team, you will play a central role in supporting the strategic ambitions of the Irish Life Group. You will design, develop and deliver high‑quality technical solutions within a customer‑centric culture, enhancing both the experience and performance of our digital properties.
What you will help us to achieve
- Create engaging digital experiences: Develop intuitive, user‑friendly web application interfaces that delight customers and advisers and deliver best‑in‑class digital experiences.
- Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams: Work closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, UX/UI Designers, QA, business stakeholders and the wider IT community to deliver high‑impact solutions.
More specific responsibilities will include
- Leading the design and development of digital customer and adviser journeys across our digital properties.
- Contributing to strategic planning activities, including estimation, scoping and sizing of work.
- Performing critical analysis and peer code reviews to ensure quality and consistency.
- Representing the team in workshops and forums to shape optimal technical solutions.
- Mentoring and supporting team members, sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Collaborating effectively with business partners and third‑party vendors.
- Challenging existing standards and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Keeping up to date with emerging tools, frameworks and technologies, and applying them where appropriate.
What you will need to be successful in the role
- Proven experience in designing and delivering engaging digital experiences.
- Strong collaboration skills, with experience working in multi‑disciplinary, agile teams.
- In‑depth knowledge of front‑end technologies and how to optimise them to meet user and business needs.
- Relevant business awareness, ideally within financial services or a similar environment.
- Data‑driven problem‑solving skills and the ability to make sound, evidence‑based decisions.
- Demonstrated leadership capability, including influencing technical direction and standards.
- A strong desire to stay current with industry trends, tools and technologies.
- Ability to influence others to adopt best practices and to produce efficient, maintainable and reusable code.
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
Desired Knowledge / Experience / Skills
- BSc degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- 6+ years’ experience with the .NET technology stack (C#, React, JavaScript, jQuery, TypeScript).
- Detailed knowledge of SQL Server.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
- Knowledge of JSON over REST for data exchange.
- Understanding of UX principles and methodologies, including user‑centred design and design thinking.
