Role Overview
We require an IT Business Analyst to work within the Customer Solutions Information Technology department within Irish Life. In this role, you’ll work within a Scrum team and be part of a Business Analyst Community of Practice, collaborating to design new solutions to improve business efficiency and productivity.
As a senior team member, you’ll lead and manage the backlog for strategic projects. You may work on multiple projects at one time, while also providing guidance to junior team members and contributing to the broader BA community.
Working closely with business stakeholders, understanding the business problem you’ll analyse existing processes and data flows to identify pain points and opportunities. You’ll help shape solution designs and costings, define system functionality and user experience, and ensure close collaboration and sign off by the business through each sprint delivery.
Key Accountabilities
• Conduct workshops with business areas to understand existing processes, pain points, and improvement opportunities.
• Elicit and document clear, actionable requirements from stakeholders.
• Facilitate cross-functional workshops to map and optimise business processes.
• Collaborate with the Scrum team to propose and shape solutions for process and system enhancements.
• Own and maintain Scrum artifacts, including backlog refinement and user story documentation.
• Actively participate in sprint ceremonies, ensuring user stories are well-defined and aligned with delivery goals.
• Define clear acceptance criteria to support effective QA and test case development.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior Business Analysts and Scrum team members.
• Continuously develop skills and stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Champion a culture of continuous improvement in ways of working across the team and BA community.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
What you will need to be successful in the role
• Proven experience in the Financial Services sector, ideally with strong knowledge of Life and Pensions insurance products and systems.
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience as a Business Analyst or in an IT change environment.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and propose effective solutions.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet tight deadlines, and coordinate cross-functional teams.
• Hands-on experience with Scrum or Agile delivery frameworks.
• Familiarity with the Irish Life Financial Services (ILFS) product suite.
• Demonstrated leadership, relationship-building, and collaboration skills.
• Commercial awareness, with the ability to make informed decisions that align with business goals.
• High attention to detail, with the ability to produce clear, concise documentation in plain English.
• Strong communication skills with a proactive and solution-focused mindset.
• Passionate about delivering value through technology and excited to contribute to strategic initiatives.
