Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Pricing Manager to lead the development and delivery of our health insurance pricing strategy. Reporting to the Head of Products, Pricing & Insights, they will be responsible for developing and delivering the health insurance pricing strategy, ensuring pricing is commercially robust, analytically sound, regulatory compliant, and aligned with strategic objectives.
The role:
• Leads pricing across the full health portfolio.
• Provides expert analytical and commercial input into product and pricing decisions.
• Works closely with senior stakeholders in Product, Finance, Actuarial, Sales & Propositions to deliver sustainable, profitable growth.
This is a strategic, high-impact role leading a high-performing team, driving data-driven decision making, shaping competitive and sustainable pricing models, and influencing business performance and customer outcomes in a dynamic health insurance market.
What you will help us to achieve
Pricing, modelling and analytics
• Own and enhance pricing models, methodologies, and tools to ensure accuracy, robustness, and fitness for purpose.
• Lead detailed portfolio profitability analysis (segmentation, claims experience, retention, channel performance).
• Drive use of advanced analytics and data science in pricing decisions.
• Ensure pricing assumptions and methodologies are documented, governed, and regularly reviewed.
Commercial execution
• Partner with Sales & Propositions to develop and agree pricing for tenders, new plan ranges, and bespoke products.
• Translate complex pricing and profitability insights into clear, actionable recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to business planning, forecasting, and budgeting from a pricing perspective.
Strategic pricing leadership
• Design, develop, and implement the annual pricing strategy and in-year pricing cycles across all key product segments.
• Challenge and refine pricing proposals to support profitability, growth, customer value, and competitive positioning.
• Provide strategic pricing and profitability input to product development and benefits design.
• Monitor competitor activity, market dynamics, and regulatory changes and convert these into clear pricing recommendations.
Team leadership and development
• Lead, coach, and develop a small team of pricing professionals, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
• Set clear objectives, provide ongoing feedback, and support professional development and relevant study.
• Promote best practice in analysis, modelling, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
• Champion innovation and continuous improvement, including adoption of AI tools.
Risk, governance and regulation
• Ensure full compliance with relevant regulations (including CBI and HIA) and internal risk policies.
• Contribute to pricing governance forums, preparing papers and presentations for senior management and committees.
What you will need to be successful in the role
• Qualified Actuary with at least 3 years’ post-qualification experience.
• Proven leadership and people management experience.
• Strong knowledge and experience of the health insurance market, pricing, and risk management.
• Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills with ability to understand wider business implications of pricing decisions.
• Strong commercial awareness & negotiating skills, with a track record of delivering strong commercial results.
• Clear drive for customer satisfaction, putting the customer at the heart of the business.
• Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills; able to work across business units to achieve strategic and business targets.
• Proven experience in developing and delivering strategic plans, innovation, and change.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office, SQL, and VBA.
