Team Background
• This role sits within our Innovation & Change team and reports to our Senior Product Manager in Advice Solutions.
• This team has oversight/responsibility for customer facing digital properties and capability, spanning across multiple products and channels.
Role Overview
• We are seeking a Product Designer with a passion for finding solutions that allow customers to intuitively use our products. The ideal candidate will be skilled at each stage of the design process but always focused on the needs of the customer.
• You will work with other designers and cross-functional team members and will rely heavily on both qualitative and quantitative data to make informed decisions.
• This is an interesting role for someone experienced in Product and UX/ UI Design, who is passionate about putting the user at the heart when creating and improving user journeys.
What you will help us to achieve
- Support the implementation of the marketing strategy and incorporate into objectives.
- Assist the Marketing management team by taking the lead and delivering results for specified Marketing priorities.
- Work effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver and support the Marketing strategy and business goals.
- Manage own workload ensuring all deliverables are met to a high quality standard and targets are achieved.
- Take the lead in assigned projects.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of team goals and provide support on developing team goals and implementing goals.
- Provide support to colleagues in idea generation and decision making.
- Be a champion for the Customer across the business ensuring their needs are prioritised.
More specific responsibilities will include
As a Senior Product UX/UI Designer, this role will involve:
• Lead design projects from discovery through to delivery - To lead key UX research projects within the digital team
• Champion and evolve our design system, working with developers to ensure it is up to date.
• Facilitate workshops and present at company-wide forums, articulating design decisions, user insights and product vision.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, developers and other stakeholders to define problems and deliver solutions in line with our EPICC promises.
• Mentor junior designers and contribute to improving our design culture and process.
• Use user feedback to design digital journeys and to Identify new product improvement opportunities.
• To research and contribute to the improvement of the overall experience of Irish Life
• Collaborate with business areas and IT developers to ensure visual elements are built to designed specifications. This role will largely focus on detailed design work in a cross functional team.
• Looking at ways to improve user engagement using a data-informed approach at the various stages of the user journey.
• Communicate design ideas and prototypes to business owners and developers.
• Work collaboratively with the Advice Solutions Digital Team.
• To learn and develop new skills as they emerge.
• To increase the knowledge of UX/UI Design and Research within the team and wider business.
What you will need to be successful in the role
• 5+ years of professional experience in UX/UI or Product design roles.
• Strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end product design work.
• Deep understanding of design systems, creation, scaling, governance and implementation.
• Excellent public speaking, storytelling and presentation skills. Confident in large meetings and workshops with a proven track record. Are comfortable articulating design decisions with a link back to business objectives.
• A ‘customer first’ mentality with excellent attention to detail.
• Strong experience UX research. Must have experience in conducting some UX research on a team. Familiarity with interaction design and information architecture. Must have experience in conducting some UX research on a team.
• Keen to collaborate with diverse teams and the ability to collaborate with crossfunctional team members
• Enthusiastic in driving innovation and adapting strategies in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Solid grasp of usability principles and accessibility standards.
• Has a good working knowledge of our regulatory environment
• Mastery of design tools (e.g. Figma)
• Knowledge of HTML/CSS; JavaScript is a plus – an interest in how your designs areimplemented is beneficial as you will be integrated in a cross-functional team.
You should also:
• Have good interpersonal skills & ability to communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing.
• Have the ability to multitask effectively, work well under pressure & meet tight and changing deadlines.
• Have the ability to understand and manage the sensitivities of different stakeholders at different levels and to present a viable solution and obtain buy-in.
• Have the ability to work on both your own initiative and as a part of a cross functional team.
